Parent Canvas Account 

Please read this information before creating your parent account in Canvas:

All parents of online students must create a parent account in Canvas. This will allow you to view each of the online courses your student is enrolled in. 

Parents are encouraged to review daily student progress in each of their courses to assist the student in maintaining academic progress throughout the week. Students need your guidance and support as they learn the time management skills necessary to be successful in this online format. Students are allowed to work at their own pace as they complete each course module, however all work must be submitted by the Friday evening deadline. Parent engagement and frequent Canvas checks during the week to keep students focused and moving forward has proven to be a highly significant indicator for young people who have been successful in this program.

Your parent account also gives you access to the grades and feedback that teachers post for the assignments and assessments the students complete for each course, in Canvas. Grades are eventually synched with your student's PowerSchool account, but for the SACS Online School, students and parents should view Canvas Grades to see the current status of each assignment and to view rubrics and teacher comments that are provided as additional feedback.
